“Get Connected” to Mental Health Month

Get Connected“Get Connected” is the theme for Mental Health Month 2008, and it offers big opportunities to empower your community to take action for its health this May. Our message centers on a proven strategy we can all use to protect and improve our mental health—maintaining a healthy social support network. Our materials and messages will cover the many ways we can create connections that support mental health: through connecting to family, friends or other members of our social support network; to our community; and to a health care professional, when necessary. Mental Health Month was created by the Mental Health America movement more than 50 years ago to raise awareness about mental health conditions and the importance of mental wellness for all. For more information about this year’s observance, contact Arlene Remick at aremick@mentalhealthamerica.net.
