We are very pleased to present information about the Mental Health Association in New York State's 2009 Conference with two keynotes and seventeen workshops all at reduced prices from last year.
This year's theme - Six Year Progress Report on the Impact to New York State of the President's New Freedom Commission Report.
This groundbreaking report provided a series of transformative recommendations for the mental health care system.
MHANYS Conference Features:
Keynote presentation from Bill Emmet, the National Director of the Campaign for Mental Health Reform who will be talking about the transformative changes nationally since the introduction of the Commission Report.
Keynote presentation from Lloyd Sederer, M.D., New York State Office of Mental Health Medical Director and John Allen, Director of the Bureau of Recipient Affairs for the New York State Office of Mental Health to talk about the transformative changes in New York since the New Freedom Commission Report.
In addition, we have 17 workshops from national and state experts including Dr. Henry Steadman, the Director of Policy Research Associates and one of the nation's leading experts on Criminal Justice and Mental Health, Colonel James McDonough, the Director of Veterans Affairs for New York State, discussing veterans issues and Katy Kaplan of UPENN Collaborative, a national expert on issues of Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities.
The workshops are very topical to providers of mental health, criminal justice, aging and health services as well as to recipients of services, family members and local and state government.
