Action

Advocacy has been at the root of Mental Health America since Clifford Beers founded our organization in 1909. Through nearly a century of advocacy at the national, state and local levels, Mental Health America has sought to protect the rights of individuals with mental illnesses; to undo decades of neglect and substandard care; to seek access to equitable, accessible and culturally competent services; and to seek new funding and reinvestment in both infrastructure and services in the community.

Mental Health America continues to lead the mental health movement by informing and coalescing mental health stakeholders across the country. Mental Health America supports and empowers mental health advocacy organizations as they confront policy challenges and opportunities. We have a library of online and hard copy resources on many topic areas, and we will respond to your specific question or advocacy support needs. You can rely on Mental Health America to:

  • Respond to requests for information and research;
  • Produce useful publications on policy topics;
  • Produce effective advocacy tools; and
  • Identify and connect you to experts on specific topics.
  • Please direct inquiries to:
