Judy Stange, Ph.D.

Judy Stange oversees the National Association of Mental Health Planning and Advisory Councils (NAMHPAC), where she is responsible for providing technical assistance and training to the 59 member councils.  Dr. Stange is active in developing products focused on the Mental Health Block grant, mental health policy, consumer supported programming and evidence-based practices. 

She was previously senior project manager with a Washington, D.C.-based consulting company where she managed projects and provided technical assistance related to mental health and substance abuse policy and systems for federal-, state- and community-level agencies and organizations. 

A clinical psychologist who trained at the University of North Texas, Dr. Stange has extensive experience in public and private mental health systems, and has expertise in service system design, implementation and evaluation.  From her roots in a provider organization, as well as from the local, state, and federal levels of policy, she has been involved with implementation and evaluation of a number of evidence-based practices, including supported employment, supported housing, co-occurring disorders, assertive community treatment, and medication algorithms. 

She has special interest and expertise in clinical delivery systems, integrating recovery principles in consumer driven services, cultural competence, behavioral healthcare policy, and economic development for consumers.  Dr. Stange is also skilled in providing consultation and technical assistance to a variety of organizations at local, state and national levels.
