John A. Morris, M.S.W. - John Morris is Director of the Human Services Practice of the Technical Assistance Collaborative, Inc., and also Director of Health Policy Studies at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine where he is Professor of Clinical Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is Senior Policy Consultant to Comprehensive NeuroScience, Inc. and editor of Prescriptions for Progress. He is Vice-Chair of the Annapolis Coalition on the Behavioral Health Workforce, which is currently working to create a national workforce strategic plan under contract from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. John is Past President of the American College of Mental Health Administration and of the ACMHA Foundation; in 2006 he was honored with the Saul Feldman Award for Lifetime Achievement, ACMHA’s highest honor. He is currently Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the National Mental Health Association and a member of the National Advisory Council to the Georgetown Technical Center for Children’s Mental Health. He is the Immediate Past President of the SC Action Council for Cross Cultural Mental Health and Human Service, and a member of the Mental Health Policy Research Network of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. John is a formed state mental heath executive in South Carolina, with more than thirty-five years in the behavioral health field as a clinician, administrator, researcher, policy maker and educator.
